A good friend recently watched Beware of Angels and contacted us to request permission to post our website’s link on her new website Silence No More, a book about her journey out of Spiritual Formation. Stephanie Griffin spent 9 years in the movement and trained in all the practices. Even though she had been a lifelong Christian, she didn’t see danger in the exercises promoted, such as Lectio Divina, walking the labyrinth and contemplative prayer. She found it strange that they teach Christians to read and study the Bible, and yet regard other worldviews as equals – equal paths to immortality.  She finally learned the roots of Spiritual Formation and took a stand to come out.

Dondi meets Roger Morneau Later, Stephanie told me about how her husband (Dondi) met Roger Morneau back in the 90s. During a personal crisis, Dondi drove 7 hours – without an appointment – to knock on Roger and Hilda’s door! They invited him inside, and Roger spent five hours sharing the treasures of his dynamic prayer life. That first meeting was a game changer for Dondi. His spiritual life and faith grew, and he visited them several more times prior to Roger’s death in 1998. And just like that, God added a critical new story line for Charmed by Darkness, our new documentary about Roger’s amazing conversion and his eventual worldwide prayer ministry.

After learning both of their stories, we realized that God wants to show the contrast between Roger’s legacy of true biblical prayer vs. the false prayer movement that is sweeping the Christian world! Contemplative Prayer is a core/foundational practice of Spiritual Formation and the Emerging Church Movement. How is it possible that these two people are married?  Talk about perfect timing! Dondi and Stephanie agreed, not only to give interviews, but to reenact various scenes to dramatize their stories.

“Recently we spent a grueling week in California to film 14 different scenes in multiple locations — and their interviews,” stated Founder/Producer Chris Lang. “God worked out the weather, 15 extras to help dramatize their stories and all the logistics in a way that was unmistakable. Thanks to cinematographer Mark Paden who worked tirelessly to help us capture some great footage.” We plan to shoot more reenactments for other story lines this fall, and with God’s help, finish post production of Charmed by Darkness by first quarter 2018!
